The Lakewood Board of Adjustment hears and makes decisions on requests by property owners for variances from development regulations. The most common request for variances relate to setbacks, fences and building heights. The Board also hears and makes decision on appeals from any order, requirement, decisions or determination made by any administrative official charged with enforcement of the zoning ordinance. All decisions are made by a majority vote of the members present at the meeting.

Ordinance O-69-15 established the Lakewood Board of Adjustment in 1969. The Lakewood Board of Adjustment follows the guidelines established by Colorado Revised Statutes 31-23-307.

The Board consists of seven members. Five members are appointed by ward (one from each ward) and two members are appointed at-large. Terms are four years in length and Board members may serve two terms. The Lakewood Board of Adjustment terms expire on March 31.
