Public Improvement Fees in Lakewood

A Public Improvement Fee (PIF) is a fee that developers may require their tenants collect on their customer's sales transactions to pay for the improvements on their site.

Generally, these improvements are financed through a Public Improvement Corporation or a Special District. The Public Improvement Fee collected repays the PIF debt incurred by the developers.

Some examples of these improvements are curbs and sidewalks, parking facilities, storm management system, sanitary sewer systems, road development (within the site) and outdoor public plaza.

Currently, in Lakewood there are three locations that have a Public Improvement Fee, they are Belmar, Colorado Mills and Creekside Shopping Center. Please call the PIF section at (303) 987-7683 or pifsection@lakewood.org for more information.
