Continuances:
Continuances must
be requested in person, at the Municipal Court's Violations Bureau, before
the scheduled court date. The following conditions may apply:
Arraignments:
Appear in person any
Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm to continue
the arraignment.
An arraignment may
be continued one time at the Violations Bureau for up to two weeks. Additional
continuances and/or continuances longer than two weeks must be approved
by a judge.
The parents of a juvenile
may continue the case without the juvenile's presence if identification
is provided.
Trials:
A waiver of the right
to a speedy trial may be required to continue a trial.
An appearance before
a judge may be required to request a continuance for a trial date.
Attorneys requesting
a continuance must file the appropriate motions with the Court.
An objection to the
prosecutor's request for a continuance may be made by appearing at the
date and time specified on the prosecutor's motion to continue.
