Citizen Police Academy

Have you ever wanted to feel what it's like to be a police officer? Experience life as a police officer by attending the department's Citizen Police Academy (CPA).

Download application from link at left, fill out and return to address indicated on form. Offered twice yearly, the next CPA will begin September 14, 2010, and will meet for 10 sessions, in either a classroom setting or in the field.

• Gain new insight into how police agents work and serve the community.
• Learn how community-oriented problem solving unites police and citizens in a powerful partnership against crime.
• Learn from police personnel in teaching situations and hands-on participation such as searches, officer survival, and an optional ride-along with a police agent.
• Spark enthusiasm and community involvement for the future good of our community.

Graduates of the Academy may apply to become members of the department's Volunteer Surveillance Team, assisting the department in various investigations and administrative work. All of those who attend return to the community with a better understanding of how their police department functions.
