An "Adopt-a-Street"
program has been developed by the City of Lakewood Street Maintenance
Division, to encourage Lakewood citizens to take an active role
in helping keep our highways free of litter. You can show you care
about Lakewood and help the environment by volunteering to "adopt"
a street.
To adopt a street,
individuals or organizations agree to remove litter from a minimum
of one mile of selected roadways for a period of one year. The group
must conduct its clean-ups about once a month in the good weather
months. In return, the City will furnish the volunteers with materials
and supplies to help them with the clean-up. The City will also
post a sign indicating the name of the adopting group at both ends
of the adopted section of street.
If you are interested
in adopting a street or obtaining additional information on the Adopt-a-Street
Program, please call the Street Maintenance Division at 987-7949.
